I do not believe Ice Cream is considered an “essential” item and I suspect that Ice Cream Vans could be excellent vectors for spreading COVID-19 because kids are filthy little monsters who touch everything. Please park your van and quit cruising the neighborhoods.
(Actual local Ice Cream Van not depicted. Please don’t track down Mr. Cool and give him any trouble since he doesn’t operate in Louisiana.)

WOW! No freaking way I would let my kids buy from an ice cream truck these days.

I was glad that he was moving at a fairly fast pace when he went by the house . Probably too fast for kids to get out the door before he was gone. I wonder if someone at the back of the neighborhood yelled at him or threatened to report him.

They probably got an exception because food delivery or something? Regardless, that seems inappropriate.

How else can I part with $3 for an overly-sweetened Spider Dude popsicle with droopy eyes?

If he were delivering food, that would be a valid reason for him being out and about. H e was playing the music to call the little children to come buy some ice cream, so I don’t think he was out there to deliver food.

I know, but maybe they lobbied to have what they do considered to be “food delivery”. Which it sort of is, if you think about it.
Odds are that if word gets out the government will shut that down — as they should.

Mr. Cool observes social distancing and offers only no-contact home delivery

Was it this truck? If so they are delivering medicine

I hope so. I’d definitely chew their ass out if they came by my place.

Its getting weird here in Michigan. I can get windows and roofing done but no carpet work or tree cutting. But hey the weed shops are still open.

I can see a broken window or leaky roof being an essential repair. Perhaps a moldy carpet or even dealing with a fallen tree. I guess one could make the case for just about any business being “essential.”

Stand 10 feet away and shout your credit card number so he can hear it. Ice cream delivered via roof-mounted trebuchet.

The tree cutting one surprised me the most.

It’s a high-risk activity. I wouldn’t want to have to go to the hospital because of an accident.

In Pennsylvania, the construction industry was shut down, but the governor's kitchen cabinet factory received a waiver to stay open. Paper mills can operate, but the timber industry was shut down, steel mills are open, but coal is closed, and specialty metal fabricators can operate, but not paints or coatings suppliers.

Actually ice cream trucks are considered essential businesses. They fall under retail food and are licensed as such. Additionally, they are considered by law as door to door sales by way of delivery. So basically, all you scum ice cream truck haters out there hate ice cream trucks regardless of the circumstances! It's best you scum bags stay indoors and smoke your essential business marijana and drink your essential business booze! Hopefully you will overdose on that stuff!
